Meet Tait & ‘Ilikea Ferge, two creative hearts with a passion for championing small businesses, local artists, and independent musicians.

Tait’s experience is rooted in Hawaii’s DIY music scene, playing bass for projects such as Our Distance, Amity Street, and Andrew White, during Downtown Honolulu’s nascent musical years.

‘Ilikea has been a local photographer for more than a decade, and in recent years has developed her skillset to service local businesses through brand development.

Their collective expertise is on full display through their joined efforts in creating a self-supporting community of creative individuals.

Indie Union’s core mission was clearly visible, even during their first steps back in 2018,
when ‘Ilikea & Tait hosted a pop-up show and night market in Kailua. Vendors and bands—some experienced and some untested—joined together in that coffee shop parking lot as a celebration of local artistry. Though Indie Union wouldn’t solidify itself as an entity until the summer of 2019, their first event was a resounding shout, announcing their success yet to come.

Indie Union is built by the moments and feelings collected over the years: setting pen to paper after a month-long writer’s block, capturing the shot in the midst of golden hour,
freeing the song that has been trapped in your heart—all of it is Indie Union.

Tait & ‘Ilikea Ferge have created more than just a ‘brand’ or an ‘event’. Indie Union is intentioned to be a safe and encouraging space for creatives to come together and support each other. It’s a community where people know that they are seen, heard, and supported. While there may be differences in the artists that call themselves members, they are unified under the desire to express their artistry with the world.
